I’ve heard people say hope springs eternal,
yet know that losing true love is infernal.
Life’s for living some others might say,
or faith is the answer and urge you to pray.
You may hear not to grief for the love of your life,
to remember the good times, though is cuts like a knife.
Relive all the highs and odd little sorrows
and forget the looming lonely tomorrows.
I’m not sure of the answers to any of that,
Just know that platitudes will only sound flat.
So at the end and when all’s said and done,
all I can proffer is: Darkness must yield to the sun.
